The comments about weeds are spot on. If Mortar is not used in the joints and if the blocks are not set in concrete then a “creeping” grass like Bermuda, Zoysia, Centipede or St. Augustine will “pop-up” in the planting bed in a season or two. Also, the curved portions should be cut so as to minimize the gaps. All of this would be time consuming, but would be nice. A more simple way of edging would be a simple “V’’ shaped trench with a shovels and then weekly edging with at metal edger,,,,,not a string trimmer.
